We Are Open – These Are Our Protocols
On behalf of the doctors and staff of St Lawrence Eye Care, we are happy to announce that as of June 9th 2020, we will resume emergency and routine medical eye care. We will be following requirements from the Ministry of Health, and guidance from the College of Optometrists of Ontario, designed to protect the public and ensure we are practicing in the safest way possible.
- Daily Pre-Screening of all Personnel at St Lawrence Eye Care
- All staff, doctors, patients and approved guests are screened daily for their recent contacts, have their temperature taken and sanitize their hands upon entering the premises.
- Personal Protective Equipment for all Staff and Patients
- All persons entering the space are required to wear face coverings at all times. Patients are asked to bring their own mask. Should one have no access to a mask we are happy to provide one.
- Above-Standard Protocols for Sanitation of Hands and Surfaces
- A hand sanitizing station will be available at the office entrance. You will be required to sanitize your hands upon entry
- Furniture, surfaces and examination rooms are cleaned and sanitized after every patient.
- All sunglasses and optical frames are cleaned prior to any contact with patients
- Social Distancing – While Waiting and Moving Throughout the Space
- Patients will be asked to make appointments, rather than come for walk-in care, and will be asked to come at the appointment time (not early or late). This will help ensure the waiting room has the fewest number of people at any one time.
- To reduce direct patient to doctor contact time, all patients are encouraged to undergo retinal imaging. For OHIP patients, this is not a covered service. Optical coherence tomography imaging is $60.
None of us know when the pandemic will subside, but until it does, please rest assured that we will continue providing excellent care in a very safe environment.
